Invitado por la iniciativa Espacio Temporal a desarrollar un proyecto para Cali Colombia, decide trabajar con un elemento potencialmente político y al mismo tiempo emblemático en la región: el panorama rural colombiano. Así, realiza esta serie de paisajes utilizando una tinta fabricada con cenizas humanas, donadas por los familiares de una mujer originaria del país. En este diálogo con el territorio, se logran diversos niveles de lectura. The Irresistible Persistence of the Memory (Mexican artist ask for donation of human ashes as a part of an art project in Cali, we garanitee respectable, apropiate and confidential treatment. Contact: mikedca@hotmail.com) Invited to develop an art project in Cali Colombia, I decided to work with a strong politic element wich at same time is an enblematic item of the region: the colombian countryside, impliying their missing people.. I started to make and ongoing serie of landscapes with special ink mixing human ashes of a woman born and died in Colombia donated by her relatives. In this dialog with geography I will like to explore the diferent meanings and levels. We can cope the emptiness of death, even if we have the subcounssios need of everlasting life, and at the same time, the strong emotional meaning represented by the rural landscape aproaching to an end this thought can be very painful. as a consecuency of the endless sedition and commotion phenomenon, too many comun and visible everywhere on this lands, but with tremendous repercutions that tends to overtake our emotional health. |
